Plants are a great way to decorate a house, make it more welcoming and add a more natural touch to every home. But sometimes doubts arise about how to decorate the different spaces with plants, among other things because the variety of solutions is enormous.

Where to put a small vegetable garden, a vertical garden or hanging pots? Do you have to take into account the bathroom? To answer these and other questions, the Habitissimo portal has prepared a small guide that gives you several solutions to decorate each room in the house with plants.

Kitchen: where herbs make sense

The kitchen, a place of happiness and good meals, is the ideal place in a house to plant some aromatic herbs, or even to create a small garden in pots, where you can plant things like cherry tomatoes or chillies. One solution is to create a small corner on the kitchen counter with these plants, to decorate and have easy access to them while cooking. You can also use other types of plants in the decoration of the space, placing different species in places such as a shelf or on top of the refrigerator.

This is one of the places where, traditionally, more plants are placed. If you have children or pets, don’t forget to choose non-toxic species that you can put in more original pots or containers, made by yourself with materials such as recycled fruit boxes or even baskets. Another very fashionable option is to create a vertical garden in this room, to add more dynamism to the environment. This garden can be larger or smaller, depending on the space you have.

Bedroom: Hanging pots are a solution

Before it was said that having plants in the bedroom was not recommended, but today we know that this is a myth. Therefore, you can put all the plants you want in this room, as long as you do not compromise the functionality of the space. Place some plants on shelves on your bed or, alternatively, hang a few hanging pots on both sides of the bed for a calming and natural effect. If you prefer something more classic, use vases or baskets to place some plants in that less used corner of the room.

Bath: for plants that prefer humidity

Having plants in the bathroom, until recently, was not very common, since the room is usually one of the darkest and wettest in the house. But there are several species that prefer this type of environment, so you can use them to decorate the space. In addition to using pots on the floor, you can hang hanging pots on a wall in the room, to highlight it, or place some plants in a niche that you have in the room. For an even more differentiated decoration, you can suspend some pots over the bathtub or shower.

Other rooms: light should be a concern

Whatever room in your house, there are a few rules to keep in mind when it comes to plants. Therefore, always choose species suitable to the light levels of space, so that they have a better chance of survival. When it comes to decorating with plants, the main rule is to have fun. Whether you use a lot or a few plants, or if you use pots, recycled cans or a mixture of both, the important thing is that you feel good about the space and the plants that you have in it.
