In addition to damaging walls and clothing, humidity can also be harmful to health

Mold is more common than we think. It is something as simple as the proliferation of fungi and it happens especially in warm, humid and poorly ventilated environments. In addition to damaging the walls and clothing, it can cause respiratory diseases, which is why it is so important to identify the cause of this problem and combat it. In today’s article we leave you some tips to prevent the smell of mold at home and prevent it from spreading.

Tips to prevent the appearance of mold
To avoid mold at home, we must always be aware. And if the environment is naturally very humid, it will appear frequently. This is what you can do to avoid it:

First of all, it is very important to ventilate the spaces. It seems basic, but it is fundamental when it comes to attacking the problem. Airing the house is essential, even on the coldest days.
Damp and poorly ventilated houses are more likely to develop mold in the clothes closets: in this case, you have to leave the doors and drawers open for a while so that the furniture can air out; clean the cabinet with white vinegar regularly; and do not store clothes when they are worn or wet. Putting dehumidifiers inside cabinets also helps.
Another trick is to put chalk in the corners of rooms and inside cabinets, as it helps retain moisture buildup.
Finally, it is also essential to check for leaks or water leaks and it is preferable to use waterproof and insulating paints to avoid moisture and stains on the walls.

How to remove mold: homemade recipes
On the walls: prepare a solution with 240 ml of white vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda. Then just pour the liquid into a spray bottle, spray it on the affected area and leave it to act for 10 minutes, then remove it with a damp cloth.
On furniture: to clean stains found on furniture, use a white vinegar solution. You just have to mix a liter of water with half a glass of vinegar. Again, fill a clean spray bottle and sparingly apply the mixture, then wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth.
On clothes: to avoid fungi on clothes, it is necessary to remove them from the closets, wash them well and let them dry in the sun. Another trick is to mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of salt for every liter of water. You should boil your clothes in this solution for about an hour, rinse them well in cold water, and dry as usual.
On mattresses: spread baking soda over the entire surface of the mattress and wait about 30 minutes. Then just suck it up.
