Are you considering using it on the walls of your house? Here is the basic information you need
Perhaps it seemed like a vintage element to us, but since everything comes back and practically everything is invented (or almost), wallpaper has returned to dress the walls of our houses. A simple example: the firm Banak Importa has just launched its first wallpaper collection, specifically, four different models:
Bouquet, created from bouquets of flowers;
Mist, inspired by the sea;
Palma, inspired by palm leaves;
Aqua, an ideal proposal for the rooms of the smallest of the house.
An important aspect to consider if you are considering putting wallpaper in your house is that not just any wall will do, in fact, the wall has to be smooth (something that is not common in Spanish homes where the gotelé reigns).
“In addition to being smooth, it should not have major imperfections because if they did, they would be marked on the paper,” Banak Importa confirms. So now you know: to avoid walls with gotelé, defects and small bumps…
At the time of placing it, the wall must be clean and dry: “It is recommended to use the glue that comes with the paper. In addition, it is important to respect the recommended overlap area, the paper has a width of 50 cm”.
Regarding maintenance, it is very simple: they recommend passing a damp, clean and wrung cloth, without applying any cleaning product or rubbing because it could damage the paper.
Let’s go now with recommendations on where to put it, in the firm they recommend only covering with wallpaper always on one wall of the room. “For example, for a wall 4 meters wide by 2.50 meters high, two rolls of wallpaper would be needed, each one costs 79 euros,” they explain.
In the children’s bedroom, for example, they recommend putting it on the wall of the bed: the entire wall can be covered or only halfway up. In the master bedroom, the recommendation is similar: only on the wall on which the bed rests.
If we are considering putting wallpaper in the dining room, the best thing to do there would be on the wall of the sofa, in this way we can play with the upholstery of the sofa and the tonality of the cushions. If we want it for the hall of the house, the best thing to do is to fix the paper on the wall that is just in front of the entrance door.
And one more fact: if you get tired of the chosen model or it gets damaged, it should be noted that the wallpaper is very easy to remove, always dry.
One of the problems that wallpaper can cause is that, over time, its edges peel off. To prevent it from coming off, just use a fine brush with glue in the areas where it rises: once you apply the glue, press moving the excess glue inwards and remove the excess with a clean, damp sponge. Then just let it dry.
